Description:

Girls Friendly Society play just after the First World War, about 1920, either on Pilton House Verandah or in Pilton Church Hall. The cast includes Nell Reed (later Murch), Jane Bartlett, ??? Popham, Florrie Tanner and Minnie Bartlett.

Thanks for the photograph to Mary Passmore who is Minnie's daughter.

The Girls Friendly Society in England and Wales (campaign name GFS Platform) was established in 1875, within the Anglican Church, and is still a national and international movement, helping young women to help themselves by giving them opportunities to develop their potential, pursue aspirations, grow in confidence and to learn to value themselves and others equally.
