On Thursday 27th May 1920, the North Devon Journal reported the unveiling of the memorial west window in the Church of St Mary the Virgin. The memorial to those of the parish who fell in the Great War takes the form a handsome stained glass window and brass tablet placed in the west end of the Parish Church. It was seen as a worthy tribute to the fallen, whilst by its erection the appearance of the fine old church has been greatly enhanced.
