Dennis Norman became a scout when the 12th North Devon Troop in Pilton was formed in about 1948/49. Years before joining the scouts he recalled having seen a scout of the 1st North Devon Troop (Barnstaple) who had obtained a King’s Scout badge and promised himself to do likewise.
When he became a Senior Scout, Dennis was first leader of the Stag Patrol and later of the Darwin Patrol. After a lot of hard work, he was awarded the Queen’s Scout Badge in 1955. For a view of the Queen’s Scout certificate and more details of its award, follow this link:
