A Study in Pilton Bluecoat School on Stir-Up Sunday in 1983

A Study in Pilton Bluecoat School on Stir-Up Sunday in 1983 /media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=794
Description:

This picture was possibly taken in 1983 on Stir-Up Sunday – the Sunday immediately before Advent Sunday when Christmas puddings and cakes were traditionally made. It is taken in Bluecoat School in Abbey Road, Pilton. At that time Anthony Geering was the vicar of St Mary’s Church, Pilton. He can be seen in the centre, with the beard. Next to him is Bill Forward who was Headteacher of the school at the time.

In the picture, centre left, three rows from the back, is Revd. Harry Kennen a retired priest once vicar of Filleigh who did a great deal of work in Pilton Parish in his retirement. Also there towards the right on the back row in his robes is Howard Bluett who was the Reader at the time. The occasion was a study day which began after the morning service and the choir and Sunday School children are in the picture along with the congregation.

The day was led by Revd. Richard Lee, who at the time was chaplain to the RAF at Chivenor. He is at the far right of the picture holding his son Michael.

Thanks to Howard Bluett for sending us this picture. The resolution is not very good, but if anyone recognises anyone please let us know.
