Three years on from fitting of a new kitchen in 2009, on 8th August 2012 Pilton Church Hall finally replaced the old domestic cooker with a new range cooker thanks to a grant from the Diocese of Exeter's 'Million for Mission' Fund. The photograph shows the cooker being manoeuvred into the Hall by a team of helpers who included Andy Kilby (kitchen fitter), Mike Hastings (committee member), Nigel Dilkes (vicar), Barry Lane (electrician), Richard Stevens (chairman of Hall committee), Martin Haddrill (committee member) and Sue Buttonshaw (leader of the Friendship Circle) - and the man from RGB! Provision of a catering quality stove is aimed at improving use of the Hall by the community. The £10,000 award plus £2,500 raised by the congregation was also used towards kitting out a new Church Office and Mission Resource Centre, and providing baby-changing facilities in two of the Hall toilets, as well as making improvements to the Church facilities, music and noticeboard, and the provision of other mission resources.
