Description:
This image is of John Rogers of Tutshill and Longstone, Pilton and dates from about 1770. It was presented to St Mary's Church by Inkerman Rogers, a Fellow of the Geological Society, a member of his family.
The inscription says: "John Rogers (1711-1779) of Tutshill and Longstone, Pilton. Churchwarden over a period of 47 years. Other members of the Family served as Churchwardens since the year 1674. Presented by Inkerman Rogers F.G.S."
The artist is unknown. Inkerman Rogers lived from 1866 to 1959.
