Letter concerning Miss Edith Robins of Pilton in 1915

Letter concerning Miss Edith Robins of Pilton in 1915 /media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=379
Description:

This letter, which was addressed to Miss Edith Robins of Pilton Street, was written by William Lord, the Headmaster of Pilton School, in July 1915 recommending her as a 'suitable and intelligent teacher'. Miss Robins, who had previously won a scholarship to Barnstaple Grammar School from Pilton School, appears to have applied for the post of Assistant Mistress at Pilton School. Prior to the application she had successfully served two terms as a Pupil Teacher at the same school. Mr Lord was also on the Barnstaple Education Committee.

We have to thank the mother of Ian Thomas, Deputy Headteacher of Pilton Bluecoat School from 1978 to 1997, for this letter which was found among her possessions.
