Mr and Mrs Chamings Dairy of Hume Farm, Bradiford

Mr and Mrs Chamings Dairy of Hume Farm, Bradiford /media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=277

This photograph shows Arthur and Gwen Chamings of Hume Farm, Bradiford, in around 1972, on the road to Anchor Mill. They ran a dairy and their horse was thought to be called 'Dot' although in 1965 their horse was called 'Dolly'. The man in the background, behind the cart, is also thought to have been called Arthur and worked for Hume Farm.

Memories of them include them delivering milk by the jug in the 1950s with milk churns on their cart and then changing over to gold top and silver top bottles. They used 2 pint bottles and then used to foil seal the milk bottles by hand with a little gadget.

Many thanks to Michael Abbott for the photograph and to other contributors to the Facebook thread about the Chamings. For the other entry in the archive follow this link:
