On Sunday December 14th 1845 two sermons were preached in aid of the Pilton National & Pilton Sunday Schools in Pilton Church. The first was at 11o'clock in the morning by Rev Richard Hayne, the Incumbent of Pilton from 1843 until 1850, while the second was at 3 o'clock in the afternoon by Rev C Padley, another west country clergyman. Exactly what 'aid' meant is not clear from the poster but probably involved a collection. The poster was printed by Barnstaple printers Brightwell and Sons.
Thanks to The ND Record Office which provided this for an exhibition of 'Pilton Then and Now' in 2008.
