In 1962 this silver wafer box was presented to St Mary's Church, Pilton, by Miss Edith Hill in memory of her parents Charles Henry Hill (1874-1961) and Edith Mary Hill (1880 - 1959). Miss Edith Hill was a teacher at the Old Pilton School next to St Mary's Church and the sister of May Brannam (nee Hill). The Hills ran a butcher's shop at 109, Pilton Street where John Norman was the errand boy back in the 1950s.
Wafer boxes are used to hold the communion wafers and this is used regularly at the 8am Holy Communion service. Thanks to St Mary's Church for permission to include this in the archive.
