Teachers Leaving Pilton School in about 1967 /media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=598
Description:

This newspaper article records the departure, all in one year, of three of the four teachers at Pilton Primary School. Mr Charles Sherratt, the Headmaster for 13 years, left to move to a school in Ilchester. Miss Edith Hill, teacher for 41 years, and Miss Beatrice Turner, teacher for 29 years, retired from teaching at the same time. That left only one teacher, Mr Ken Morrish, to look after the 160 pupils. This must date from about 1967 as it notes that the amalgamation of Barnstaple Bluecoat School and Pilton Church School to form Pilton Bluecoat School at a new site in Abbey Road which took place two years later.
