Bradiford residents celebrated the end of the 2nd World War with at least one party. In this case it was in fancy dress, with several couples choosing to cross-dress for the occasion. They included Jack Hobbs, partner in Hobbs and Smith Builders, which operated from buildings beside the bridge over Bradiford Water, a site later becoming part of the Meadow Road housing.
