On VE (Victory in Europe) Day, 8 May 1945, at the end of World War II, a fancy dress competition was held for the children in Pilton House grounds.
The children, where known, are: back row (l. to r.): Josephine Williams, Peggy Gould, ??, Pat Drane, ?? May Hill, and front row (l. to r.): Betty Williams, Ann Williams, ? Sherbourne, ??, ??, ??, Betty Parkhouse, Sylvia Perkins, Valerie Turner, John Norman and ??.
