This is a photograph of a fancy dress competition in Pilton Church Rooms and must date from the very early 1930s. It is well worth close study as the costumes are very imaginative. The one child identified so far is Maurice Huxtable, on the right hand end of the front row. Maurice was born in 1922 and lived for much of his life at 82 Pilton Street (next to the Church Rooms) and then later in Yeo Vale. He died in 2008. The benches they are standing on are still in the Church Hall today!
Many thanks to Maurice's daughter, Jan Cashin, for sharing this and other photographs with The Pilton Story. If anyone can provide any further names, please contact us through the website.
