This was a group of girls attending Pilton School and was taken in the playground against the church wall. We understand the event was celebrating May Day and the girls are dressed all in white to dance round the May Pole. Front row from left to right : Olive Murch, Valerie Turner, ??, Valerie Towell, Blanche (or maybe Anne) Thorne, Shirley Squires, Wendy Griffiths, possibly Diane Barrow, ??.
Second Row from left to right : Valerie Gill, ??, ??, possibly Rita Sherbourne, Betty Parkhouse, ??, possibly Brenda Clift, ??, ??, Beryl Hill (now Marlborough).

Third row : we have not been given any of these names, so if any one can identify any of these and the other girls, please get in contact with us at The Pilton Story.

Many thanks to Harold Murch for this photograph and Olive Murch and her daughter Helena Woolrich and Beryl Marlborough (neé Hill) for their help with the names.
