The Pilton Signal Box on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway was located beside Pilton Causeway, close to the then operational headquarters and goods yard of the railway company. The iron post tops on the gate posts are still close by on two modern brick pillars. The railway was dismantled in 1935 and the offices and sheds were destroyed by fire in 1992. The aim, included in the emerging Local Plan for North Devon, is to rebuild the railway all the way to Barnstaple and build a new terminus in Pilton Yard on what is currently a car park.
