For 24 hours from July 31st to August 1st 2009 a group of twenty three Pilton and other residents hopped around Pilton Park (distance 423 metres per lap) on a 1970-80s spacehopper to raise money for Children's Hospice South West. The weather was rather less than favourable weather but they nevertheless broke two world records for a 24 hour hopathon - for the longest continuous space hop and the longest distance on a spacehopper.
The hopathon concluded with a custard fight and this link takes you to the picture of the custard fight.

The custard pie fight was only 37 people short of also breaking a world record - for the largest number of people in a custard pie fight. The 400 litres of custard for the fight was made and donated by the Barum Brewery in Pilton.
