The Pilton Festival in Barnstaple, North Devon, started in 1982 as a result of the arrival of the Rev. Anthony Geering as Vicar of Pilton Church. With Ian Thomas, Albert Linacre, Noel Harley and many others, he started what has now become the annual Pilton Green Man Festival. This video is of a discussion with Ian and Sue Thomas when they visited Pilton in September 2013 and gives a good idea of how it all came about and how it developed through the 1980s.
Thanks to Ian and Sue Thomas and to Pet Harley, Martin Haddrill, Liz Eveleigh and John Norman who were involved in the discussion.
