Eric Roy Barnes : Admiralty Driver and Pilton Fish and Chip Shop Proprietor

/media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=786
Description:

This document is the Identification Card for Drivers of Naval Transport Vehicles of Seaman Eric Roy Barnes who was based on HMS Europa for the period September 1945 to March 1946 when he was probably demobbed.
Eric Roy Barnes ran the Pilton Fryer (as it is now called) from the early 1950s until the early 1970s and lived above the shop with his wife Connie (née Sciones).
HMS Europa (a shore establishment) was the name of the Central Depot for the Royal Naval Patrol Service in Lowestoft from early in the Second World War until she was decommissioned in 1946. LT/JX 195868 was Eric’s service number. LT means it was issued in Lowestoft and JX means he was in the Seamen and Communicators branch of the service.
Thanks to Eric and Connie’s son Roy Barnes for passing this and other documents to The Pilton Story.
