In 1982, the 12th North Devon Scouts, based in Pilton Church Hall, produced this prize-winning entry "AFTER LAST YEAR WE'RE PREPARED" for the annual Barnstaple Carnival. It was so named because the 1981 Carnival had been a wash-out because of torrential rain. Initially we only had one name - Mark Jeffery, who is third from the right, who was identified by Peter Jeffery.

Mark Rainey has now identified more: Mark Sowden, Simon Cole, Mark Soper and Paul Philips are in the front row.
Standing behind then from L to R: Stuart Loder, Martin Bray (Cub Leader), Derek Gard (Group Scout Leader), Peter Bray (Chairman) and Michelle Gard (Cub Leader). On the float is Philip Kelland.
