With an aim to raise funds for the Beaford Arts Centre the Pilton based 'Lord Basil's Reformers' successfully presented a version of Chaucer's 'The Canterbury Tales' (modernised by Phil Woods and Michael Bogdanov) in the summer of 2008 in Loxhore, West Down, Welcome and Winkleigh. The group had performed the play in 2003 and 2004 in Pilton in the garden of The Chichester Arms (now The Green Man) on the Friday nights of the Pilton Festival. This publicity photograph shows, left to right, Pip Cartmell as Miss Pardoner, Richard Prouse (former Head of Music at Pilton Community College) as Mr Reeve, Victor Lahai-Taylor as Mickey Miller, Paul Turner as Mr Knight, Nic Long as Mr Merchant, Ellen Mitchell as Lady Bath and, being lifted by all, Bev Neighbour as Ms Cooke. The group raised £600 for Beaford Arts.
