An exhibition match took place on 2nd May 2011 between men of the Police (Devon and Cornwall) and Fire (Devon and Somerset) at Barnstaple Rugby Club in aid of Help for Heroes and North Devon Hospice. It was the third instalment of what is turning out to be an annual “grudge match” between the men of the two authorities. Braunton youngster Lydia Cross – who raised thousands of pounds for Help for Heroes since losing both of her legs to meningitis – presented the silverware to the winning team. This photo, from Martin Haddrill, shows Police captain, Gareth Woolway, Pilton's PCSO, lifting the Cup after the Police won a hard fought match.
