This document has been prepared by Pilton Historian Margaret Reed giving additional information on the Hartnoll Family to supplement the account written by Anne Bishop and uploaded into The Pilton Story Archive in 2014. It provides further information about which North Devon parishes Hartnolls have been recorded as living in as well as giving more about the specific John Hartnoll (there were many John Hartnolls) who was baptised in 1777 and who had a bakery near the top of Pilton Street. It discusses their position as non-conformists in Pilton, which has never had a non-conformist place of worship, gives a Hartnoll family tree up to around 1900, and also gives the wording of an inscription to the James Hartnoll who died in 1900 which is in St Mary's Church.
