This document tells the story of Pilton Cricket Club, now Barnstaple & Pilton Cricket Club, through the eyes of Pilton born and bred John Norman. Formed as Pilton Bible Class before the II World War, it played first in Bradiford and then off Westaway. In the early 1950s it moved to Pottington where it was based for the next 50 years. The amalgamation with Barnstaple CC came in 1993 and the club then moved to its current ground at Raleigh Meadow in 2004.
John played for the club from 1956 until 1991 when a knee injury put paid to his cricketing career. Along the way he scored one century and took many wickets and captained the indoor cricket team in the winter of 1978/79.
Three photographs from his personal collection are included in the story and others with some of the membership cards and scorecards have also been uploaded to the archive.
Thanks to John Norman for this fascinating story.
