Pilton Festival : The Early Years : A personal view by Ian Thomas

/media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=289
Description:

Ian Thomas became Deputy Headmaster of The Bluecoat C.E. Junior School, Pilton in January 1978. In 1982 he got involved in the Rev. Anthony Geering's idea of resurrecting Pilton Festival - an event with its roots in the 1344 granting of the right to hold a market by Edward III. With Anthony Geering, Albert Linacre and Noel Harley he formed the core of the first Festival Committee. The festival took place in June and July of that year.

This short memory of the early years of the Festival is his personal view of the Festival and his involvement. The 1982 Festival is recorded in Clifford Davies' film 'Pilton Festival 1982', an edited version of which is also on The Pilton Story. Follow this link to watch it:

Thanks to Ian for these memories and the photographs which help us to understand better how the Festival came about and developed into the amazing event it is today.
