The Last 'King' of Pilton 1982

/media/flashcomm?action=mediaview&context=normal&id=670
Description:

The first Pilton Festival was a two month series of events in June and July of 1982, and as part of the festivities a 'King' was proclaimed on the day of the Medieval Market and Historical Pageant on Saturday the 24th July. The 'King' was to be the youngest male from Pilton Parish born prior to that day. Timmy and Jill Buckler, then from Bradiford, claimed that title for their son Luke who was born only nine days prior.
John Mock of Pilton has contributed this story of Luke Buckler together with a report in the North Devon Journal of the time which shows that, from the outset in 1982, Pilton Festival was an outstanding event. As well as two photographs of Timmy Buckler with Luke being announced to the crowds outside Pilton House by the Rev. Anthony Geering (one of the key instigators of Pilton Festival) there is also one showing Timmy with Luke's Godparents, Dave Baglow and John Mock, and then the latter with a 33 year-old Luke Buckler in Sydney in 2015.
Many thanks to John Mock for letting us have this fascinating collection.
